For a long time, women have been considered the inferior counterpart to men. Even in this day in age, it is still a commonly held belief. However, many women have challenged this and we see successful women in the business industry who have made a name for themselves. To be successful, women in business have to be more confident in themselves, more witty, more cunning than their male counterparts. They have to go the extra mile to even get the same level of respect as if they were a man, which makes it more difficult to make a breakthrough in this industry.

The most successful businesswoman changes every year and is arguably subjective, but according to Fortune, a news website, Karen Lynch was the most powerful businesswoman in 2021. Karen Lynch is the president and chief executive officer of the healthcare company CVS. Lynch’s education started in Boston College and then she attended Boston University and received a Master’s degree in Business Administration. Lynch was a leader for many different companies. This included her presidency over the Cigna group. After this, she left for another company focused in healthcare to become president. Lynch went to another company called Aetena and became the president two years later. Aetena was acquired by CVS and she later became CEO of CVS. She made significant impacts in each of the positions in the different companies she was at.

Lynch worked tirelessly to become where she is now, and as CEO of CVS she made this company the center of the pandemic, and a place for easy access for COVID tests and vaccines. It is easy to say that because of her actions, the company’s revenue increased tremendously.

Another successful business woman is Samina Hamied. She was named as the Economic Times businesswoman of the year 2021. She never strayed away from the core values of the pharmaceutical company called Cipla her uncle created in 1935 in India. With a dramatically increased revenue, she had Cipla enter the American market and changed this company to work toward an inorganic expansion.

These people are just two real life examples of women who succeeded in business. There are more on the rise too and more that will make a name for themselves. This goes to show how women shouldn’t be continued to be overlooked—they will always exceed limits placed on them.
